Tyre inflation manufacturer PCL has revved up its reputation in India by supplying Royal Enfield with vital kit for production of its world-famous motorcycles

Chennai-based Royal Enfield is delighted with the performance of PCL’s ACCURA Compact, the company’s most simple electronic tyre inflator to date.

ACCURA Compact combines a modern, user-friendly design with leading sensor technology, electronics and proprietary software in a tiny 255mm x 220mm footprint. It offers the simplest, safest, most accurate means of tyre inflation within a space-saving and cost-effective, lightweight unit.

The robust engineering plastic design offers longer life and low maintenance, whilst the durable ceramic sensor enables extremely precise measurement, with tolerances well above the industry standard EC 86/217.

This makes the ACCURA Compact ideal for car dealership, garages, car fleets and OEM applications, where ease of use, accuracy and reliability are key – and has made it a roaring success on Royal Enfield’s motorcycles.

PCL’s Joint Venture company in India, PCL-SUMO, supplied and installed two ACCURA Compacts in the Production Department Lab at the Tiruvottiyur plant. Amal Subramani, Assistant Manager of Product Development at Royal Enfield said: “We are very satisfied with the professionalism displayed by PCL-SUMO during the installation, and the products they supplied are working well. We thank them for their efficient service and excellent support and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”

UK-manufactured Royal Enfield motorcycles were first sold in India in 1949, and in 1955, the Indian government chose the Bullet 350 for its police forces and the army patrolling the country's border.

In 1968 Royal Enfield UK was sold to Norton-Triumph-Villiers (NVT). Production ended in 1970 and the company was dissolved in 1971. However the Bullet 350 continued to be manufactured in India and by the 1980’s Royal Enfield India was exporting motorcycles to Europe.

Sanjay Tomar, National Sales Manager at PCL-SUMO is delighted to have provided a first class kit to pump up the tyres of such an iconic brand.

He said: “Royal Enfield is the only factory in the world to still be manufacturing Royal Enfield motorcycles, so to supply them with tyre inflation equipment is a huge achievement.

“The ACCURA Compact offers long product life with its robust design, and its ability to provide guaranteed accuracy means reduced tyre wear - thereby extending tyre life. We are proud to be helping Royal Enfield and its motorcycles stay safely on the road to continued success.”
